The mission of the Virtual Flight Simulation Club
is to provide the Daniel Webster community a recreational opportunity
to work together combining simulated flight with live Air Traffic
Control services.
Our events are an expansion of
multiplayer gaming using Microsoft Flight Simulator. Flying solo
on FS is great for practicing manouvers, navigation, or just killing
time, but it doesn't give you that "real world" experience.
Flying with someone else in a multiplayer session adds a certain
realism dynamic to the game, but it is still missing a key component
of flying in general. The VFSC takes the game to an entirely new
level by adding live, real person-to-person, ATC services within
the FS multiplayer game.
Our Flight Simulator game server is be available from anywhere
on campus so students may participate without leaving the comfort
of their own computer chair. Our Air Traffic Controllers have
radar software that also connects to the game giving them
flight and position data for every pilot flying in the session.
The use of a voice server and PC headsets (mic and headphones)
complete the experience allowing students to communicate with
each other and ATC personnel, in real time, to create a campus
wide virtual flight world.
The VFSC now offers a computer headset rental program for members, which allows any member to rent a computer headset from the library for use with our scheduled flights.
Any student who is a member may rent. This will allow students who have MS Flight Simulator on their personal computer, but do not own a computer headset, to participate from their
dorm room. This allows the students greater flexibility and frees up workstations in the Flight Sim lab (ER116) for those who do not own MS Flight Simulator. For further information please contact
Adam Scholten. To rent, please login to your member portal on the club website.
